Lily is a living example of the phrase "Hopelessly devoted to you!" I don't know who sings that song, but Lily absolutely adores people, kids, cats and attention. All of my dogs love attention, but Lily takes devotion to a whole new level.
Since the day she arrived at eight weeks old from Romania, she would run her little legs off to get in front of you, stop and plant her butt so that you would have to stop and pet her. I never had to teach Lily to "sit" she automatically would do it, right in your way..... She has since been trained out of this so that we both didn't trip over each other, but she has always, always, chosen people over play mates.
When the other dogs go running off to bark at something, Lily will start to go with them, take a few running steps and then look back and stop. She doesn't want to take the risk that I might step out on the patio and she'll miss her chance for some attention. She will sit by you forever and let you pet her and she's patient with the grandkids and loves their ackward attention just as much.
If she does goes running off after something and you call her, you can almost hear her feet some to a skidding stop she's is such a hurry to get back and get her loving!
She has always been fascinated with the puppies from other litters and she plays so gently with my up and coming female, Willow. She shows all the traits that make an excellent, nurturing dog.
She, as all the others, has been hip, elbow and heart checked.
